ABSTRACT

Global alcohol control policies emphasize age restrictions and health risks, yet cultural practices like traditional Chinese medicine and African home brewing complicate regulation. China’s alcohol industry, valued at $158 billion, reflects deep cultural roots, with Baijiu symbolizing heritage while raising health and sustainability concerns. Socially, alcohol fosters bonding, though modern trends favor moderation. Sustainability challenges include environmental impacts and resource conservation. Innovations in Baijiu production aim to balance tradition and public health. Policymakers must navigate these complexities to harmonize health, culture, and economic interests.
