ABSTRACT
This review explores the development, current trends, and research prospects on English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classroom environments in China. Drawing on an analysis of 45 studies published from 1985 to 2024, it summarizes key theoretical frameworks, major research themes, and methodological choices within the field. While significant advancements have been made, the review also uncovers notable gaps to be filled in this realm. By addressing existing challenges, it offers recommendations for a deeper understanding of Classroom Environment, and also improve practices in EFL classroom settings.
